Morning: Depart Marrakech at 7:00 AM, winding through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m). Stop at an argan oil cooperative to see Berber women crafting this liquid gold.
Afternoon: Explore the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar (fortified village) famed for films like Gladiator. Enjoy lunch in town before driving through the “Hollywood of Africa” (Ouarzazate).
Evening: Arrive in the Dades Valley, where wind-sculpted rock formations nicknamed “Monkey Fingers” glow at sunset. Dinner and overnight in a cozy guesthouse with valley views.
Morning: After breakfast, head to the Todgha Gorge, a 300m-deep canyon with sheer cliffs ideal for photos and short hikes. Visit a local Berber family for mint tea to learn about their traditions.
Afternoon: Continue to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Swap your vehicle for camels and trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun sets.
Night: Arrive at your luxury desert camp nestled in the dunes. Savor a traditional tagine dinner, then gather around the fire for Berber drum music and stargazing.
An optional early start rewards you with the magical spectacle of a desert sunrise painting the dunes in hues of gold and pink. After breakfast at the camp, we bid farewell to the Sahara and embark on a new route towards Ouarzazate. Our path takes us through Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region, and on to the traditional Berber villages of Alnif and Nkob, gateways to the starkly beautiful pre-Saharan landscapes. The journey then continues alongside the legendary Draa Valley, a ribbon of green where millions of palm trees create a stunning oasis. We arrive in Ouarzazate in the afternoon, where you will check into your hotel for the night.
After breakfast, we begin the final leg of our adventure: the return journey to Marrakech. Our route takes us back over the majestic High Atlas Mountains, offering a new perspective on their rugged beauty as we descend towards the plains. This scenic drive is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the incredible contrasts of your journey—from bustling souks to silent dunes—and the lasting memories you’ve forged in southern Morocco. We will arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Your unforgettable 4-day tour concludes with a convenient drop-off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your expedition.
