You will visit the historic Skala Fortress and the bustling harbor, and wander through its intriguing streets that display a unique blend of architectural styles. You will have dinner and stay overnight in a lovely local riad or hotel.
Following breakfast, you can enjoy some final moments in Essaouira before beginning the drive to Marrakech. Along the way, you will see the region’s iconic Argan trees, where you may witness the unique sight of goats perched in their branches. A stop at a women’s cooperative will offer insight into the many uses of Argan oil. Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will check into your accommodation, with the afternoon free to relax. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at your hotel or riad.
Today, an expert local guide will lead you on an immersive tour of the vibrant city of Marrakech. You will discover historic landmarks including the opulent Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the beautiful Ben Youssef Madrasa, as well as seeing the imposing Koutoubia Mosque. After checking into your guesthouse, you will embark on a guided walk through lush terraced fields and juniper forests, enjoying breathtaking views of the Imlil and Azaden Valleys. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at a local guesthouse.
Today is dedicated to exploring the scenic trails of the Atlas Mountains. Your trek will take you to the Tizi n’Tamatert Pass, revealing stunning views of the Toubkal Massif. You will enjoy a picnic lunch amidst this incredible scenery. The path will also lead you through the ancient Berber villages of Tacheddirt and Tinghourine, offering a glimpse into the traditional way of life. The route follows ancient caravan paths to Erfoud, a town known for its rich fossil deposits. Upon arriving in Merzouga, you will trade your vehicle for a camel and embark on a memorable trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will spend a magical night at a traditional Berber camp under the starry desert sky, enjoying local music and a chance to try sandboarding.
Awaken to a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you will ride a camel back to meet your driver and visit the historic town of Rissani, where you can explore its lively souk. The journey then takes you through the lush Draa Valley, a vast oasis of palm groves and ancient kasbahs. After lunch in Alnif, you will continue to Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight stay in a riad or hotel.
Your day starts with an exploration of Ouarzazate, including the Kasbah Taourirt and the famous film studios. The journey then continues through Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron capital, where you’ll stop for lunch. Afterwards, you will visit the historic city of Taroudant, often called “Little Marrakech.” The day concludes upon your arrival in Agadir, where you will check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
