Your Saharan journey begins the moment you arrive at Errachidia Airport. Here, your personal driver will greet you. From there, you will begin the scenic transfer to Merzouga. The drive itself is an experience, taking you through awe-inspiring and ever-changing landscapes. You will feel the desert’s call grow stronger with each mile. Finally, you will settle into your Merzouga hotel for the evening. This is a chance to rest and anticipate the adventure that awaits.
After breakfast, your day of discovery begins. First, you will embark on a thrilling 4×4 expedition around the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes. This exciting tour includes several key stops: the Hassi Labied oasis → the seasonal Sriji Lake → the village of Khamlia for soulful Gnawa music → and the historic M’fis mineral mines. Afterward, a truly special moment awaits. You will be welcomed to share tea with a nomadic Berber family in their tent, offering a genuine insight into their culture.
Following lunch back in Merzouga, your adventure takes a classic turn. You will then trade your 4×4 for a camel to begin a memorable trek into the dunes. Along the way, you will pause to marvel at a spectacular sunset. You’ll also have the chance to try sandboarding on the golden slopes.
Upon arrival at the desert camp, you will be welcomed with traditional mint tea. Later, a delicious dinner is served under the stars. The evening culminates with the rhythmic beat of Berber drums around a campfire. Finally, you will retire to your cozy nomad tent for the night.
Waking up early is rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, you will journey back to Merzouga by camel or 4WD. From there, the tour continues to the ancient town of Rissani. If it is a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday), you can explore its bustling, traditional souk. Next, you’ll visit Erfoud, a town renowned for its fascinating fossil workshops.
Subsequently, the final leg of your journey takes you through the stunning Ziz Valley. Here, you’ll travel through a vast canyon brimming with lush palm groves. Your incredible Saharan adventure concludes when your driver drops you off at your hotel or the airport in Errachidia, leaving you with cherished and lasting memories.
