Your journey commences at 9:00 AM with a pickup from your hotel in Errachidia. Your first stop offers a stunning panoramic viewpoint over the Ziz Valley, a vast oasis of emerald palm groves. From there, we travel through Erfoud, a region famous for its rich fossil deposits, before arriving in Merzouga, the gateway to the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.
In the afternoon, you will trade your vehicle for a camel and begin a captivating 1.5-hour trek into the sea of sand. Watch as the sunset transforms the dunes with fiery colors, try your hand at sandboarding, and then proceed to your traditional desert camp. Here, you’ll be greeted with mint tea before enjoying a delicious dinner. The evening is capped off with the rhythmic sounds of Berber music around a campfire, all beneath a spectacular starry sky, before you retire to your private nomad tent.
An early start is rewarded with a breathtaking desert sunrise. After breakfast, you’ll return to Merzouga to continue your journey. A stop in Rissani offers a chance to explore its vibrant local market. Market days are Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The route then takes you through charming Berber villages to the lush palm groves of Tinghir.
Soon after, you will arrive at the Todra Gorge. This massive canyon has sheer 300-meter cliffs for you to explore on foot. After lunch, the trip continues to the Dades Valley. It is famous for its winding roads and is known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” You will spend the night in a local hotel, nestled among the valley’s stunning rock formations.
Today’s journey begins with a drive through the fragrant Rose Valley. Your destination is Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Here, you can visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios. The adventure continues to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This fortified village was a backdrop for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
The final leg of your tour crosses the majestic High Atlas Mountains. You will travel via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, which peaks at 2,260 meters. Along this stunning route, you’ll make stops at panoramic viewpoints. Your descent leads you to Marrakech, where you will arrive by evening, concluding your unforgettable adventure.
