Welcome to Morocco! Your journey begins in Casablanca, the nation’s modern economic hub. Upon arrival at the airport, we will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, dramatically perched on the Atlantic shore. This evening, feel free to relax or stroll the lively Corniche promenade.
After breakfast, we’ll discover Casablanca’s key sites, including Mohammed V Square and the charming Habous quarter. Our journey then takes us to Rabat, Morocco’s capital. Here, we’ll see the Royal Palace, the iconic Hassan Tower, and the beautiful Kasbah of the Oudaias, a fortress with stunning ocean views. In the afternoon, we continue north into the Rif Mountains, arriving in the picturesque “Blue City” of Chefchaouen for the night.
Enjoy a morning wandering the iconic blue streets of Chefchaouen, soaking up its uniquely peaceful atmosphere. Later, we drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Volubilis to explore the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco. From there, we’ll discover the imperial city of Meknes, admiring the imposing Bab Mansour Gate and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. We conclude the day in Fes, Morocco’s profound cultural and spiritual heart.
Today is dedicated to Fes, with a local expert to guide you. We will delve into the ancient Fes el-Bali, one of the world’s largest car-free urban zones. Your guided tour will reveal landmarks like the Al-Qarawiyyin University, the famous Chouara Tanneries, and the stunning Bou Inania Madrasa. The vibrant souks and artisan quarters will immerse you in the city’s timeless energy.
We leave the city behind and journey into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, a unique alpine-style village often called ‘Morocco’s Switzerland.’ We will then pass through the vast Cedar Forests, home to communities of Barbary macaque monkeys. The landscape then shifts dramatically as we journey towards the Sahara, arriving at Merzouga, the gateway to the incredible Erg Chebbi dunes.
Today is dedicated to the full Sahara experience. You will embark on a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, a truly iconic adventure. Watching the sun dip below the horizon from the top of a dune is an unforgettable moment. Tonight, you will stay in a comfortable desert camp, enjoying a traditional dinner, Berber music, and a spectacular canopy of stars.
After witnessing a magical sunrise over the dunes, we will depart the desert and head for Erfoud, a town known for its rich fossil deposits. Our journey continues to the magnificent Todra Gorges, a towering red canyon perfect for a short walk. We will end the day in the scenic Dades Valley, renowned for its dramatic rock formations and lush palm groves.
Our route today takes us through the fragrant Valley of Roses, celebrated for its cosmetic products. We’ll then visit the Skoura oasis, a lush palm grove dotted with ancient fortresses like the Kasbah Amridil. We will finish the day in Ouarzazate, famously known as the ‘Hollywood of Morocco’ for its world-class film studios.
Before leaving Ouarzazate, we will explore Ait Ben Haddou, a magnificent UNESCO-listed ksar (fortified village) famous as a backdrop for films like Gladiator. Our path then leads us through Taliouine, the heart of Morocco’s saffron-producing region, before we arrive in Taroudante, a historic walled city often called ‘Little Marrakech.’
We travel towards the coast today, making a brief stop in the modern beach city of Agadir. From there, we follow the scenic coastal road to Essaouira, a charming and artistic port town. You’ll have time to explore its historic medina, watch the fishing boats, and perhaps enjoy fresh seafood for lunch.
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Essaouira. You can use your free time to visit a local Argan oil cooperative, browse the art galleries, or simply walk along its historic sea ramparts. In the afternoon, we will make the journey inland to the vibrant, imperial ‘Red City’ of Marrakech.
A guided tour will unveil the magic of Marrakech. We will explore the city’s most treasured sites, including the electric atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, the landmark Koutoubia Mosque, the opulent Bahia Palace, and the historic Saadian Tombs. Your tour also includes a visit to the city’s bustling souks and the tranquil Majorelle Garden.
