Your Saharan tour commences upon your arrival at Errachidia Airport. Your dedicated driver will be there to greet you and begin the transfer to Merzouga. As evening approaches, you will travel through dramatic and changing desert landscapes, feeling the allure of the great dunes drawing you closer. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel for the night, a chance to rest and build anticipation for the desert adventures that lie ahead.
After breakfast, your day of discovery begins. You will take a thrilling 4×4 expedition around the Erg Chebbi dunes. Your tour includes several key stops. You’ll visit the Hassi Labied oasis and the seasonal Sriji Lake. You will also discover Khamlia village for its soulful Gnawa music. Next, you will visit the M’fis mineral mines. Afterward, you will share a special moment over tea with a nomadic Berber family.
Following lunch in Merzouga, your adventure takes a classic turn. You will trade your vehicle for a camel. This begins a memorable trek into the sea of sand. You will pause to admire a spectacular sunset. You can also try your hand at sandboarding. Later, you will arrive at your desert camp and be welcomed with mint tea. A delicious traditional dinner will follow. The evening culminates with Berber drumming around a campfire. Finally, you will retire to your cozy nomad tent.
An early start rewards you with a breathtaking sunrise. Watch as it paints the dunes in hues of orange and gold. After breakfast, you will return to Merzouga by camel or 4WD. From there, you begin the drive toward Fes. The route first takes you through the stunning Ziz Valley, a canyon full of lush palm groves.
Next, you will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains. The scenery shifts dramatically from desert to alpine forest. After lunch, you’ll stop in Azrou. You will visit the famous cedar forests to see playful Barbary macaques. Your final stop is Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco.” This clean town provides a fascinating contrast. Your incredible Moroccan adventure concludes upon arrival in Fes by late afternoon.
